Christmas Trees 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians

I hope that your sons and daughters are continuing to enjoy the limited meetings and activities available to them under the current Level 5 restrictions. We are fortunate in that we have a large group of committed leaders which makes it possible for us to run a good level of activities and meetings in small groups. We keep our fingers crossed that we can return to larger gatherings after the current restrictions are lifted and that we will be in a position to deliver a more extensive programme in the new year. We have worked hard to ensure that all of our meetings and activities are both compliant and safe and we are pleased to report that we have had no Covid 19 transmission at any of our Malahide Sea Scout gatherings to date. A few of our members have unfortunately contracted Covid 19 elsewhere but thankfully they are recovering well.

We are delighted to inform you that we have figured out a way in which we can sell Christmas Trees this year safely and in compliance with all Covid regulations. We have significantly reduced the number of trees we have ordered so please try to buy as soon as possible in case they sell out. All sales will be done online and can be completed by following the process outlined below:

  1. Go to www.scouts-xmas-trees.online to place your order
  2. You will also be required to select a collection slot when buying your tree. (we have limited the number of trees which can be collected during any given collection time slot so you will be able to select your tree in comfort without any concerns about congestion or crowding).
  3. At the time of your collection slot please visit the scout den and select your tree, we will have some Cubs and/or Scouts on duty to assist you.

Also, to ensure that we all remain safe we are selling our annual 12 Days of Christmas raffle tickets online. Please go to www.scouts-xmas-trees.online and select raffle tickets. We are selling these in half books (10 tickets) for €20. There are great prizes available which you can view online when buying your tickets. You will receive a confirmation email within a couple of days with your ticket numbers.

The Christmas Trees and Raffle ticket sales are our largest fundraiser in the year. With our fixed cost base and our inability to accept new members in the past 10 months these fundraising opportunities are particularly important to us this year. These funds will be used to maintain our den, our boats and camping equipment which will enable us to continue to provide the high level of facilities and activities for our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Please support us if you can by choosing to buy your Christmas Tree from Malahide Sea Scouts this year and by purchasing our raffle tickets online.

Thank you for your ongoing patience, support and encouragement as we work our way through these challenging times.

Yours in Scouting
