NEW GEAR REQUEST

The Group Quartermaster is responsible for the purchase, maintenance and allocation of all camping and non-boating equipment.

The QM Stores are locked and will remain locked.
Gear will only be accessed/ issued with QM permission.
This is hoped to prevent loss of equipment.

Gear Check-Out
1. Book gear through the online form with reference to the inventory.
2. You will receive a confirmation email from the QM.
3. Group QM will liaise with Section QM and retrieve requested gear from stores.

Gear Check-In
1. Section QM is to report any loss/ damages immediately to Group QM.
2. Section QM is to ensure all gear is clean, dry and packed appropriately.
3. Gear will be inspected by Group QM (or substitute) and secured back in stores.

Gear which is damaged/ lost through misuse is unacceptable.
Sections will be denied access to QM stores until equipment is repaired/ replaced at section expense.

Allocation of Equipment
Gear will be allocated on a fair pick for gear rather than the 1st pick method.                                                                                                   The QM will have final say in these matters.

Any section checking equipment out of the QM stores are responsible for it and are financially responsible for any damage (beyond normal wear and tear) or loss of equipment that occurs.

Damage or loss must be reported ASAP to the QM in order to seek out a replacement or repair quickly.

Sections failing to co-operate, report damage or respect Group gear may not receive a fair pick for gear and may be asked for a deposit which will be refunded following a satisfactory inspection of the borrowed equipment by the QM.

The QM may allow, at his discretion, the marquees and other equipment to be loaned temporarily to adult members for their own use.                                                                                                   A deposit will be payable, a portion of which (25%) will be retained as a donation to the group.
Please note that neither the QM or Malahide Sea Scouts accept liability for equipment loaned out and members using it privately do so at their own risk.

Quartermaster Stores
The Quartermaster’s stores in the Den includes the ground floor room adjacent to the stairs (behind the light switches), the attic space above the Galley, several of the Galley presses and the orange storage racks located on the back wall of the Boat Deck.

No equipment whether loose or secured is to be removed from these locations without the permission of the QM.
No non QM gear is to be left in these locations without approval of the QM.                                                                                                           Any unauthorised loading or unloading of gear will result in the section receiving left-over gear once other sections have been accommodated.

The maintenance of the QM stores and its contents is extremely labour intensive and therefore it is hoped that sections will respond positively to any requests made by the QM for assistance.

These rules and procedures have been laid down by the QM in an attempt to reduce loss of equipment while still allowing sections access to Group gear.                                                                                   With such a large Group it can be difficult to keep track of our inventory.                                                                                               If any section has Group gear at home please return it to the Den where everything will be kept secure and in a central location where it will be logged.                                                                                 Sections found withholding gear will be denied access full stop to the QM stores.
