Massive congratulations to our x10 new Irish Sailing Powerboat Instructors/ Sport Ireland Intermediate Coaches who all passed their assessments at the weekend!

We are very proud and very fortunate to have so many dedicated members putting extra time aside to undergo this specialist training in addition to their regular scouting time and activities.

Big thank you to our instructors who are essential to supporting and developIng our skills and encouraging good safety and fun activity afloat.

Dublin Port Passage

Our Ventures & Rovers had a great cruising passage at the weekend sailing into Dublin Port for some close-up action of port operations on Saturday.

We tied up for the night in Poolbeg Yacht & Boat Club marina, had a cup of tea with our friends at 1st Port of Dublin Sea Scouts – Ringsend ,a swap of crew and headed home early on Sunday morning just ahead of the Cruising Association of Ireland event fleet who were also on the Liffey for the annual Three Bridges Cruise Parade.

What a great way to spend the weekend!

Powerboat Instructor Pre-Assessment Success

Massive well done to Emily O’Carroll, Shane O’Rourke, Evan Banable, Peter Reynolds, Rory Campion and Evan Bhuali-Finnegan for passing their Powerboat Instructor pre-assessment this week!!

Big thanks to the guys for putting the time in to undergo this extra specialist training to keep MSS safe and active on the water.

In the coming months they will complete the actual Powerboat Instructor course and will start delivering, developing and supporting our skills training on the water.

Introduction to Powerboating (PB L1) – June

We’re back!
Soo great to be back on the water and we didn’t waste a second to catch up on our capacity and skill building afloat.
Well done to our x6 new powerboat L1 drivers who completed their course recently.
It was also a great opportunity for our trainee powerboat instructors to challenge themselves to deliver and support the course.

Relieved to be able to successfully run our first Covid-safe PB course

x10 new National Powerboat Certificate (L2) drivers for MSS after upgrading their L1 certificates

Big thanks to our beautiful instructors for coordinating sessions with some #CovidCoaching meeting all syllabus and restriction requirements.

We will now review the weekend and negotiate plans to try continue compliant activity and training for the Group over the Winter months.

Now to log up their hours practicing on the helm to build up seamanship & experience to better support activity afloat this season.

NTA Session Planning Training

Safety Boat L3 training – January 2020

Sunny but cold weekend of the PB L3 Safety Boat course at the Den.
Lots of jumping in the water, sinking, capsizing & towing boats.
Deep water exercises double-handed, single-handed, inverted and windsurfs.
A great crew of Leaders & Ventures training this weekend not afraid to get in the water and so glad to get back on the boats so early in the year.
