GONE HOME
It is with great sadness to hear of the sudden passing of our fellow Scouter, Stephen Scanlan.
Stephen had been both a youth and adult member of Malahide Sea Scouts. Joining as a Cub Scout spent his later teens as Watch Leader of Windlass Watch.
Stephen as a adult Scouter gave his time so generously. His pivotal role as group Membership Secretary , along with other appointments as Akela of Monday Cubs ,and Assistant Scouter with Friday Night Beavers.

We offer our sincere condolences to his wife Barbara , and their family.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Thank-You Volunteers

Our volunteer Scouters make an incredible and incalculable commitment to youth development and the outdoor activity programme, supporting our young people to learn lifelong skills, make new friends, overcome challenge and positively contribute to the community.

Once a year we get an opportunity to recognise their contribution with;

Meritorious awards – for outstanding commitment to Scouting.

Service Awards – for years of service to Scouting.

Malahide Sea Scouts is lucky to have soo many passionate and talented volunteers with decades of scouting experience to best serve the programme and safe activities in the outdoors.

Last week, the Group Leader was delighted to present some notable service awards to some exceptional Malahide Sea Scout stalwarts.

25 years of service – Alan Johns & Ivan Barrett.

40 years of service – Stephen Taylor.

50 years of service – Kevin Rowan.

The Group Leader also took the opportunity to present the ‘Bosuns Whistle’ to some of the new Section Leaders.

A nautical symbolism as they prepare to ‘pass commands to the crew’ and deliver an exciting Sea Scouting – Ireland youth development programme.

Thank you to all our volunteers and wishing you all a peaceful and happy Christmas.

Laying-Up Supper 2023

At the end of each boating year, the Scouts and Ventures host a Laying Up Supper, sharing stories of the adventures they got up to, remarking over the safe and successful year, saying thanks to those who have supported and enjoying some good grub with the leaders!

Well done to the Scouts and Ventures for preparing presentations and being part of the nearly 3,000 bums we had on the water in 2023!

Sailing Regatta 2023

Some great sailing at the 52nd annual sailing regatta!

Strong conditions but the inner estuary played to its strength keeping the race area sheltered.

Gusty westerly winds made for some spicy sailing with plenty of wet and dry capsizing!

Good recoveries and some really close racing!

Bravo to all sailors who braved the conditions and did a great job representing their Scout Group

Thanks to all the Scouters for supporting rescue duty and race office alongside our friends at Malahide Yacht Club for providing the race committee and hosting us!

Team Racing

Single-handed sailing x3 boats on each team racing.

1st – Malahide Lír 1

2nd – Malahide Lír 2

3rd – Malahide Thursdays

Seamanship Challenge

Crew challenge where the team sail a larger boat together and carry out tasks such as coming alongside and man-overboard.

3rd – Malahide Lír 1

Albatross Race

Single-handed all against race to the finish.
