From Tuesday night meetings, activities, boating sessions, competitions, camps and our annual summer camp in Lough Garten last July, we have had a jam packed year, and hopefully getting back to some normality in our troop now.
Throughout the year, scouts have been improving their scouting skills and putting these skills into practice at our activities, camps and competitions. We had a backwoods night on Founders Day camp in Larch hill and our annual bivvi night on summer camp where the scouts built a shelter to sleep in and cook their dinner on their fire.
We had 2 teams enter the Hamill Cup competition in Howth this year and the girls did very well and had great fun. Neala placed first overall in the sailing regatta in Malahide this year and few Neala teams took home medals at the Triathlon competition. We also had a few neala crews enter the rowing regatta last September.
Although our boating activities have been cancelled the last few months, we are looking forward to getting back on the water now.
We are kayaking with Ivan most Tuesday evenings and we will be returning to weekend boating sessions now.
The most anticipated part of our neala programme is our camps throughout the year. We travelled to various campsites around Ireland for our Founders day camp, Easter camp, Halloween camp, and the 10 day annual Summer Camp. We had a great time on all these camps and you can see photos of these on our video.
