Scout Tri-athlon , Malahide Estuary Oct.2010

Very busy check in at the Tri-athlon
The challenge is always fun and exciting for this very well supported annual event in the sea scout calendar.The rising 4.3 meter high tide with a easterly wind made the course a little more challenging than in previous years as the swim and canoe legs were into the elements.

Under 17's wait for the swimmers to begin the run
This year 30 teams entered all 3 categories U13 ,U15 and U17. The final race for the Iron-man and Iron-women event had 22 entries. Keenly contested by last years winner in the Iron-women event Danika Sugrue of Malahide Sea Scouts Neala section retained her title.The Iron man event was won by Jake Messit of Bray Sea Scouts. Congratulations to both of them and all those who took part on the day.

u 13 teams get ready to be tagged and launched
The event drew big attendance and could be seen from the amount of supporters that lined the race route through out the day. Eagerly shouting on and encouraging their teams to the finish line. The hosts Malahide Sea Scouts provided burgers from their barbecue with both hot and cold drinks for all who took part.
Presentation of trophies, plaques and medals took place on the maindeck of den by Skipper Sean Clancy and Assistant Group Leader Kevin Rowan. Skipper Clancy also expressed his sincere thanks to all that helped make the day such a big success.The on water rescue team,chefs,recorders and for all who came out on the day, a big thank you.To the photographer Mr. Clancy who captured some wonderful shots throughout the day.
