Pass with Flying Colours
Training Day on River Liffey

Training Day on River Liffey

On Saturday seven of our trainee instructors completed their Level 1 or Level 2 Irish Canoe Union assessment based on their ages. They all passed with flying colours and are now qualified to instruct on flat water from our Den. This is no small achievement with a four hour practical exam on the water, 25 hours logged over the summer and a whole host of other requirements achieved. Even better news is that 6 of the new instructors are from Malahide.

Tiarnan Byrne Wed, Adam Doyle Fri, Kevin Casey Fri, Joey Mc Carthy Fri, Rachael Barrett Neala & Alan Barrett Ventures. On 27th November four more are completing their instructor-ship with Chris Newman from Wed included in this assessment. In April 2011 we will have a further 6 Malahide leaders completing the instructor-ship assessments and David Clarke and Ivan Barrett completing the level three instructor-ship assessments.

Kayaking is a part of the programme we offer in Malahide Sea Scouts, this will allow us to extend the programme in 2011 and as always continue to push for the highest standards of safety and coaching on the water.

Finally a big thanks to you all for supplying scouts on Saturday and to the council for supporting the purchasing of equipment over the last two years.
