On a very early Saturday morning

You would be forgiven to think this photo was taken at the outer wall of the Alamo Mission ,San Anton ,Texas and these men its defenders. The bright white washed chapel greets you on the top of Croagh Patrick ,Westport, Co.Mayo. Skipper Clancy and  25 leaders and scouts of the Malahide Sea Scout (Wed.night) made this their third Annual Croagh Patrick climb.

On a very early Saturday morning recently scouts assembled at Heuston Railway Station to catch the 7.30am train to Westport. On arrival in Westport two small commuter buses carried the scouts to the start of their climb. The weather has never let them down in the last three years .As they  made headway up the mountain great views of Clew Bay and the surrounding countryside came into view. The day was clear and made the climb all the more enjoyable.

By 4pm back into Westport with a visit to the ‘Chipper’ and climb aboard the 18.15hr train back to Heuston Station,Dublin.
