New Coxswain's trained up for 2014 boating season for
Coxswain’s Class of 2014

Today five of the class of 2014 Intermediate Oars Charge Certificate finished their training. The course which began early  back in February 2014 on a Sunday evening  with instruction in water safety, boating guidelines, safety and emergency equipment, international regulation for prevention of collision at sea ,parts of a boat ,maintenance and repair, anchoring and mooring, sea traditions, customs and courtesy, meteorology, rope work and finally  practical boating instruction.Training up new Coxswain's Training up new Coxswain’s

The course is very comprehensive but teaches young learners to take charge of a multi-oared pulling boat with a crew up to six persons. The emphasis  is on  learning boating skills , being able to take charge of a small boats crew while afloat, leading the crew, being part of the crew ,passing on  skills, overseeing  progression ,and enjoying  the fun while afloat in the outdoors  .
