Kayaking at "The Arches" Lower Estuary,Malahide

A good Easter on the estuary for canoeing. Nine of us paddled on the incoming tide on the inner estuary Saturday. This evening, Monday, Alan and I checked out the outgoing tide about three hours after high tide and it was definitely the biggest and fastest we have seen it. No chance of sitting on the wave to surf, you were either flung from one side of the wave to the other, or were washed down at 100mph. Great crack.
Hope to start back on the mid week canoeing this week by taking the Neala girls out on Wednesday, meeting at the Den at 6.15pm. All welcome to join, but Neala get priority on boats, equipment and instructors on Wednesdays. A gentle reintroduction session, we wont be going near the arches if they are flowing like they were this weekend.
