Ceadaoin Cubs Pack Holiday
On Friday the 22 of April 2016 the Ceadaoin Cubs went on our pack holiday. This year we went to Lilliput which some of the older cubs had been to before. On Friday at about six o’clock all of us met outside St.Oliver Plunkett School. We all got checked in and were told what team we were in (North,South, East or West) and then loaded our bags onto the bus. After everyone had arrived we all got onto the bus and found seats. It took us an hour and a half to get there and for a majority of the way all you could here was singing! The bus driver was getting slightly annoyed!! When we got there John got us to fall in and he told us what the plan was for the night and some of the plan for Saturday. Then we were all assigned to our rooms. We all were told to put on a jacket, hat and hiking boots. After everyone was organised we went inside to the kitchen/dining room where we all had a bite to eat and then we went out on a night hike. When we got back we had a run around in the field at the front of the house. Then it was lights out.
The next morning we all woke up and put on our clothes for the day including our pack holiday t-shirt designed by two of our cubs. We ate breakfast and then while one of our teams tidied up the rest went back to our rooms and packed up everything for the day. Then when our rooms were tidied we had inspection on our rooms and the rule is you are not allowed leave your room until a leader tells you to. We all fall in outside and John explains what is going to happen first – that was orienteering. But before that we took a group photo. We were put into our teams and we were given a map and a little card to put our stamps on. How it worked was you were given a map with different places marked on it and then when you found it there would be a stamper stuck onto a tree or gate. The aim was to get all of your card stamped and be back in the quickest time. When we got back the way it worked was east and west were paired together to go rock climbing and play games while north and south did archery and games then we switched over. When all of the teams had done both things it was time for lunch.
When lunch was over one team did the tidy up and the two teams that were going to the bog got ready for the bog and the last team had free time. Then the two teams going to the bog went off and the two other teams went into the woods to play capture the flag. The bog wasn’t just a bog it was actually an assault course and you were going underneath nets and jumping over and going under things. It was really fun and then we switched over. The teams that had just come back from the bog are given hot chocolate and they get into the shower. Then the second team goes to the bog and the first team plays a game. Then we come back and eat dinner. While the leaders set up a movie we went and played game. Then we came back and had a talent show, watched a movie and then went to bed.
On Sunday we woke up and ate breakfast and then one of the teams tidied up while the other teams got ready for the day and we packed up all our gear. We were then inspected and if we passed we got tuck shop which was an Easter egg. After that we fell in and we were divided into two teams to do some activities. The two of the teams went to build bivvy shelters and the other two teams played Quazar in the forest and then we switched over. After we had finished our activities we had lunch and then we all fell in and John gave out the awards. Then it was time to get onto the bus and go home. We got home and our parents picked us up at St. Oliver Plunketts. It was a great
